The Annual Report of the Competition Commission for the year 2020 presents the work and actions of the Commission during an extremely demanding year with unprecedented changes in working conditions for the Commission and for enterprises.
The Commission's work for 2020 has been diverse and multiface despite the challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic. The Commission continued to pursue the completion of pending cases / investigation and of the sectoral inquiry in the petroleum sector, issued a number of important decisions by accepting commitments and imposing administrative fines, decided to launch new ex-officio investigations and also evaluated and approved a very large number of mergers. The Commission moreover proceeded with the introduction of the Office Automation System, eOASIS, the modernization of the competition law with the transposition of the European Directive no. 2019/1, and the participation in Parliamentary Committees in the context of discussing new legislations as well as other issues that were the subject of discussion for which the opinion of the Commission was sought.
The Commission's unwavering goal is to continue its efforts in favour of the public interest. The action of its members is guided by the impartial exercise of its duties, based on transparency and legitimacy.
