The Service of the Commission for the Protection of Competition received on behalf of the company Caisse des Depots et Consignations, notification of a proposed concentration according to Article 13 of the Control of Concentrations between Enterprises Law (Number 22(I)/99), concerning the acquisition of joint control of La Poste by Caisse des Depots et Consignations.
Caisse des Depots et Consignations is a public company, registered under the French Law. Despite the fact that Caisse des Depots et Consignations belongs to the State of France, it is considered as an autonomous enterprise with its own independent decision making body. The enterprise is active in the operation of services of general economic interest such as banking services, management of saving funds, local and peripheral development and pensions. Caisse des Depots et Consignations is also active in the operation of open market activities such as management of private investment funds, environmental services and acts as a long term investor in public and non public enterprises.
The target company belongs to the State of France which is represented in this merger by Agence des Participations de l’Etat, a national department of the Ministry of Economy responsible for the management of state-owned shares in various companies
La Poste is a public company registered under the French Law. The activities of the enterprise are stated in the 9th of February 2010 French Law and are related with the provision of services of general economic interest such as postal services and the transport and distribution of press. La Poste is also active in the collection, transportation and distribution of packages, mail and goods.
