The Service of the Commission for the Protection of Competition on the 16th of August 2010 received on behalf of Charilaos Apostolides Public Ltd and Farmakas Quarries Public Ltd notification of a proposed concentration according to Article 13 of the Control of Concentration between Enterprises Law (Number 22(I)/99), concerning the acquirement of different divisions and assets of the Hellenic Mining Public Company Ltd enterprise.
The principal activities of Farmakas Quarries Public Ltd are: production of aggregate products, readymade concrete, bituminous asphalt concrete, construction of roads and land development.
The principal activities of Charilaos Apostolides Public Ltd are: property development, building and civil engineering contracting in Cyprus and abroad, mechanical and electrical engineering contracting, production and placement of asphalt and the production and distribution of ready-mixed concrete.
Hellenic Mining Public Company Ltd is involved in a number of activities. The divisions and assets that are being acquired by Charilaos Apostolides Public Ltd and Farmakas Quarries Public Ltd are the quarrying, the required infrastructure for the storage and trade of explosives, the possession and operation of premises and mechanical equipment and the production of asbestos and betonite.
