On the 6th of May 2002 Cyprus became a member of the International Competition Network, the first and foremost competition authority forum supported by the participating authorities themselves. Furthermore, it is the only international body devoted exclusively to competition law enforcement. ICN will provide an environment in which the CPC along with other competition authorities may through cooperation and coordination achieve consensus on such measures that would result in the more efficient and effective international antitrust enforcement.
Cyprus, has been invited to participate in the first annual conference of the ICN to be held on the 28th and 29th of September 2002 in Italy. This first annual conference brings together leaders of antitrust agencies to discuss:
(1) the merger control process in the multi-jurisdictional context and,
(2) the advocacy role and activities of competition authorities.
