The Service of the Commission for the Protection of Competition has received on behalf of the companies Amazon.com,Inc. and Amazon EU S.a.r.l., notification of a proposed concentration according to Article 13 of the Control of Concentrations between Enterprises Law (Number 22(I)/99), concerning the acquisition of 100% of the share capital of The Book Depository International Limited. The acquisition will be achieved through Amazon.com,Inc. subsidiary, Amazon EU S.a.r.l.
The “Amazon EU S.a.r.l.” is a company duly registered under the laws of Luxembourg and it is wholly owned by the public company Amazon.com, Inc. whose shares are listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The “The Book Depository International Limited” is a private company duly registered under the laws of Cyprus. This company is the holding company of The Book Depository Group and is mainly activated in sales of books online. The Book Depository has minimal sales in other products such as DVD's, CD's, videos and electronic games and electronic equipment.
