On October 6, 2023, the meeting of the EU Merger Working Group took place in Limassol, within the framework of the European Competition Network.
The Merger Working Group consists of representatives of the European Commission and the national authorities of the European Union responsible for the control of Concentrations, along with observers from the competent national authorities of the European Economic Area. Its objective is to promote coherence, convergence and cooperation among national competition authorities and the European Commission in the field of mergers between undertakings.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest related to the legal framework of mergers and its implementation were presented and discussed. The Chairperson of the Commission for the Protection of Competition, Mrs. Eva Pantzari, welcoming all the participants wished for mutual cooperation for the benefit of the economy and consumers of all the countries of the European Union.
It is noted that this is the first time that the meeting of the said Working Group takes place in Cyprus.
